BET Celebration of Gospel 2011

The BET Celebration of Gospel took place last night and there were a few memorable performance last night and below are 3 performances that have been uploaded. Whitney Houston & Kim Burrell version of "I look to you" was a very good performance and it was good that Whitney was able to stand on her own in this performance.  James Fortune "I Believe" really hit my spirit and was by far the best performance of the evening. So below are some of what took place last night on BET's Celebration of Gospel 2011.

Noah's Arc cast asks 4 your help 2 bring Noah's Arc Back to LOGO

Are you gay? Did Noah's Arc help you come out?

Did Noah's Arc help you come to terms with your gay son or daughter?

Were you homophobic before watching the show? Did it change your ideas and attitudes about gay people?

The brass at MTV and LOGO are considering putting Noah and the gang back on the air, but they won't do it without a show of support. Fortunately, some good samaritans have put together this Facebook page where you can share your experiences, memories and thoughts about the show. The more authentic, the more heartfelt, the better the chances that the powers that be will wake up and hear our cries! So post on the wall and share your feelings with the world.

This is our moment, and it would mean a lot to me personally if you took the time to contribute.

President Obama: State Of The Union Address

Last night President Obama addressed the nation and gave us an update on an array of topics as usual from education, jobs, the wars, healthcare, the economy and below are some of the highlight quotes that stood out for me:

Starting this year, no American will be forbidden from serving the country they love because of who they love. #SOTU

the above quote was in regards to the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell ban on gays in the military.

Obama: "Before we take money away from our schools... we should ask millionaires to give up their tax breaks" #SOTU

This was on the %2 tax that was proposed on the rich.

Every day, families sacrifice to live within their means. They deserve a government that does the same. #SOTU

‎"I’m not willing to go back to the days when insurance companies could deny someone coverage because of a pre-existing condition." ~Obama

This is Obama talking about the healthcare bill.

Instead of re-fighting the battles of the last two years, let’s fix what needs fixing and move forward. #SOTU

Obama here talking about Republicans and Democrats coming together as one.

‎"If you want to make a difference in the life of a child – become a teacher. Your country needs you." ~Barack Obama

This right here is why I love My President great quote of the evening.

All the above quotes were just some of what stood out for me personally as i watched the 1hr and 1 min long State Of The Union Address congrats Mr. President you rock and I am honored and glad that you are indeed leading us in the right way and that these next 2 years will be great years for our country as a whole.

Floacist "Let Me" (NEW NSFW VIDEO)

Ex-Floetry member Natalie Stewart aka The Floacist dropped her debut solo album "The Floacist presents: Floetic Soul" last year and is now gearing up to release her brand new video for "Let Me" tomorrow -- but GlobalGrind has it here first!
The video is a visually sensual and interpretive reenaction of the lovemaking track, wherein Floacist shows off her impressive (naked) body of work to the object of her affection before presenting him with her forbidden apple.

This is what we protested for???!!! The Game get's an F- so far

With this episode of the game we rejoin Derwin and Mel who has told him DJ was his son. oooooohhhh shocker there. I really don't care anymore this has become so dramatic for no real reason. Have we just been pimped by the BET machine??? Because this look like some VH1 reality show! Tasha Mack who was my favorite Character has become just your angry black woman with no punch lines and is it me or did Kelly become a borderline racist? And what Happened to Melanie when we left her two years ago she had grown up and started to own her life and now 2 years later she has become your typical housewife who gave up on herself to support her man with a baby by another chick... Have we not seen this before??? Is this all we can amount to when fame and fortune is involved? I think not. I'm almost offended enough to boycott for them to take it off the air. Jason has gone crazier and is a waist of screen time, Malik should be burried somewhere and Tee Tee should be the one to do it... I really don't know how far down this show can go but it looks as if this coaster is going all the way down before there is some light anywhere... ugh....Brazil

Dare to Dream: An Open Letter to the LGBT Community, our family and friends

Dare to Dream: An Open Letter to the LGBT Community, our family and friends

By Actor/Activist/CEO Maurice Jamal:

Today is set aside as a holiday of remembrance for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and his tireless work for equality, civil rights and justice. As national and world events occur, one might take a moment and wonder about the current condition of peace, freedom and liberty.

Often when people speak of Dr. King, they discuss "the dream". Not only his landmark speech on civil rights, but the essence and content of his dream. I was reminded today that dreams are limitless. There are no boundaries, hurdles, fears or obstacles that can stand in our way. And dreams are not a child's folly. They are the power of the human spirit reminding us that we can rise above the obvious and move towards the great. Dreams make the impossible, possible.

The work that so many of you do, is part of this dream. It moves us towards a world where equality, acceptance, peace and justice are the norms and not the exceptions. Where regardless of background and sexual orientation, people are not only free to love, live and pursue their liberty, they are encouraged and supported to do so.

This year brought both highs and lows for our community; from the victory of DADT to youth suicides that shook us to our core. And each of you has made a fundamental difference for good in this march towards equity.

A dream is more than an idea, it is permission. It allows someone the ability to craft a world that has everything they could want and desire. It emboldens them to say not only "I can" but "I will" and most importantly "I am".

When we struggle, fight and are working to survive, remember that there are men, women and young people across this country who look at the work you do. They see YOU as evidence that their dream has merit. Your talent, work, dedication and perseverance make a difference. Everyday.

For me, I am honored to be the founder of the GLO Television Network and work alongside the men and women who are part of the team. And I grateful for the support of our subscribers. You aren't customers or fans...you're part of the GLO family. Your support makes it possible for us to create the socially relevant programming we are bringing to the network this spring.

GLO TV may appear to be a digital television network. But it is so much more than that.

It is a representation of the dreams of people in small towns, church congregations, school campuses and homes across this nation, who often need a voice to speak for them, an ear to hear them, arms to embrace them, and a heart to welcome them.

It is the reality of what our world can be.

As members of the LGBT community we have a special role to play. And our friends, families and allies do as well.

The road ahead is one that we will all walk down together. It is not always easy nor the path always cleared. But it is a road we walk down triumphantly, knowing that every step we take, gives our community permission to be bold enough, to dare to dream "I AM".

BE your dream!

Golden Globes A night filled with suprises

Well what a night of shockers last night at the Globes. Glee star Chris
Colfer who plays Kurt won supporting actor and dedicated his speech to those who have been bulled. Along side Jane Lynch who won for supporting Actress and Glee won for Comedy series. The major shock was Best Actress in a Drama series that went to Katie Segal. The night was a great mystery from the start even when Host Ricky Gervais came right out the flood gate with celebrity jokes that weren't taken very lightly. Rumor mill already has that he has been banned from the globes but no confirmation on that as of yet. All and all the huge winner was "Social Network" for Best picture. "Haven't seen the last of me" Best Orignal song Colin Firth Best Actor in a Drama Natalie Portman Best Actress in a Drama.. This Award season seems to be the anti critics awards and I am excited to see what happens in a few weeks for the SAG AWARDS January 30th but before that Oscar nominations come out January 25th.

"G's to Gents' " Contestant Charged with Murder

When Baron ``Dirty'' Colon joined an MTV reality show featuring street thugs in 2009, he swore to reform or else wind up behind bars.

His own words proved prophetic: Police arrested Colon last week, charging him with the murder of a Kendall artist during a botched heist.

Colon, 24, of Miami Gardens, was a finalist on the second season of MTV's From G's to Gents, which offered $100,000 to the ``real'' gangster who most turned his life around. He competed against 15 contestants on the show, which claims to transform ``rough-around-the-edges young men'' into dapper, successful gentlemen.

THE GAME delievers the HIGH drama..

With the much anticipated return of the Game and it delivered high drama and a back story but it seemed as if when BET decided to bring the show back they also added alot of dead weight to it as well. Let's start with Kelly it seemed 2 years ago she was on this clear path of Independence and after two years she has turned in to your usual jaded sports wife who doesn't work and cries about everything ugh.. Then they added Megan Good all I can say is she is pretty much playing herself or typical cute girl that's a slut but nice she has a job though. Terrance J no check extension there co host of 106 and park not bad acting but please give the boy some ham. Sheree??? wtf ... As a fan who boycotted for this show to stay on air. I will watch but I want my show back ...

Actor Darryl Stephens Gets "RAW"

We all know Darryl Stephens as he played Noah in the hit LOGO series Noah's Arc as well as in various films such as Boy Culture and Another Gay Movie.  Darryl is in a new HIV/AIDS campaign entitled "RAW" through the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) that is getting alot of buzz at the moment.

Stephens explains the importance of intimacy when deciding to share his body sexually with a partner.

"For me not hooking up is just as much about my need to connect with someone on an intimate level if I'm being physically intimate with them. It's as much about that as it is about me needing to be honored and my body needing to be respected. And if I'm having sex with people who I don't know then I'm not honoring my own body...so why would I expect you to honor my body."

How Will Season 2 of Anacostia the web series end ??

Wow so we saw the release of episode 9 last night and wow it has indeed left me speechless once again and wondering what the hell will happen in the season 2 finale which will air in 2 wks. Well i just got my hands on a 30 sec teaser and it may help u hopefully put together what to expect  in the 30 minute finale. Yes u read correct 30 mins. Well i was able to get some leaked info on the finale episode, in the first 5 minutes of the finale their will be an emotional and shocking death that you wont expect to happen. Also the title will be called "And Justice For All" It will be an explosive episode where nothing is what it seems. But good news for Drew fans Sean's love interest in season 1 while Julian was "dead" will reprise his role in Season 3 as Drew.  So can we say love triangle in Season 3 maybe depending upon how the season finale ends because if you remember in episode 9 Sean was kidnapped at the end.
Also think about this:
How will Season 2 End:
One will be arrested
One will reveal a master plan
One will have a life changing decision to make
Two will be responsible for a shocking death
One will feel helpless
One will discover a deadly secret

 Below is the Teaser:

struggle we must : why i pledged | Kappa Alpha Psi Celebrates 100 years

Guest Blogging piece was done by Darnell Lamont Walker who is a play writer, film maker, actor and up and coming rising star and he recently wrote a piece which i thought would be timely to use today as the Kappa Alpha Psi Franternity celebrate 100 years today! For more info on Darnell check out his website http://www.darnellwalker.com/ as well as http://www.darnellwalker.wordpress.com/

“If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightening. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters.

This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what a people will submit to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.

Men may not get all they pay for in this world; but they must pay for all they get. If we ever get free from all the oppressions and wrongs heaped upon us, we must pay for their removal. We must do this by labor, by suffering, by sacrifice, and, if need be, by our lives, and the lives of others.” -frederick douglass
I pledged hard. I pledged hard because somewhere along one of the paths I had traveled up to that point in my life I had found out that we only get back what we put in. so in the cut, in the kappa tv, the chair, they dying cockroach in the middle of my living room and the many other places where set took place, I left everything because I knew that if I came out a victor, I’d go back to those places and get everything back, and rewards to last a lifetime. So I pledged.

For everything I left on those floors; for every tear shed in the shower, every fight with my line brother, every ear borrowed from a friend who couldn’t quite grasp my reasoning, and for every night my hand shook uncontrollably at the front door of a Nupe’s house, I made sure that when I brushed the sand from the bottom of my feet, I went and collected everything I had worked for. Everything I continue to work for.
I didn’t get my ass cracked to simply put on a t-shirt. I didn’t break down for thirty minutes in the dairy section at walmart for a jacket, nor did I stand in the cut for what seemed like an eternity taking wood from every able brother in the room to get my line brother’s scroll back just so I’d be able to put on a dog tag and stroll through a party. The permanence of my brands shows how long my heart will be in this.

Making that solemn promise takes a lot from a man. To gain that which is worth having, it may be necessary to lose everything else. It starts with the pride. Once the pride is gone, the mind is no longer the same, making it easier to find that crack to be slipped through. When all the pride has escaped, you gain humility. A grown man, looking like you, sounding like you, who once stood in your shoes, standing before you shouting obscenities, and then his hand comes across your face with a force unfathomable, and you stand there with your head down like a scorned child. There aren’t many more experiences more humbling.
Pride makes us artificial. Humility makes us real. I went through that. I lost my pride, my dignity, and on some nights, I swear my soul was absent as well. But I showed up with whatever I had left, and I left that too. That means something. That means that whenever I put on a shirt, I remember. Whenever I hear the name Kappa Alpha Psi, there’s something in me that clicks, and everything for that moment stops and gives me a few seconds to reflect.
If I find myself in a situation in which I must protect or defend the letters I may have across my chest, or the cane I have hanging from my left pocket, or the histories and traditions of this noble klan, there will be no more quivering hands, nor anymore stutters. There will be a man who was once covered in blood, sweat and tears, immovable with a blindfold and ripped shirt. A man who was literally dragged, then carried to a place where many have proven themselves unable to exist. The place where I broke.
And what I can now laugh at was once worth a million tears that were born in a place of sadness. But I can now cry at the memories, and I can laugh because I now understand the purpose for it all. I can laugh now because I can’t be broken anymore. And that means something.

And now I can come back, and see those who are standing in the exact same spot I once stood, committing to memory everything valuable to the fraternity I love, hands shaking before entering the arena, nerves of steel once inside. I can come back and become a piece of the stories told years from now. I can be that big brother I once wish existed, while doing everything everything that was done to poor ol’ me.

I own one piece of paraphernalia. A dog tag given to me by an older brother. I asked “what do i have to do to get that from you?” He told me “just ask.” For that one piece of paraphernalia I own, I paid a price many men couldn’t afford. I allowed men to break me down – to chip away at the concrete – until i became too shallow and too thin for even the smallest crack to be made. I left blood on my scroll as a reminder.
When your feet cool down, and your lungs are full of a new breath, and you are ready to begin building, I will remind you that because of the thousands before me, the two on my ship, the many that came afterwards, and your line brothers, that your debts are settled, and you owe no one.
Men may not get all they pay for in this world, but they must pay for all they get, and because of that, I never focus on my struggles. Only my progress.

Marsha Ambrosius - Far Away (Official Video) [HQ]

R&B singer Marsha Ambrosius tackles gay bashing, suicide and homophobia in the urban community in her latest music video.

Her song, "Far Away," is one she initially wrote after a close friend attempted suicide.
"Because they're in such a bad place in their lives, there's nothing you can do to help someone if they can't help themselves," she said.
In the clip, a man seen with Ambrosius appears to be her boyfriend. They walk in a park, say hello to a group of men and to a woman and her children. Later, the video shows the man kissing another man. When the men return to the same park, now holding hands, the mother pulls her kids away. And when Ambrosius' friend is alone, he's assaulted while the American flag stands tall in the background. The clip concludes with the man lying on his couch; a suicide letter and dozens of pills are visible.
Ambrosius says the video will speak for those who don't have a voice.
"I lost a friend and I've had friends that have attempted suicide. There are people that don't have a voice to speak out and show what is happening and what can happen, so I just wanted people to see the honesty in it and be aware," she said in an interview from Philadelphia on Wednesday.

"I go to my shows and my audience is predominantly gay ... I've been approached by many who've said my music has influenced them and we'll speak about experiences that they've had. It's just only right that I give that voice back," she said.

This is a great little piece that talks about depression with in the black gay community. This is an issue we as black gay men deal with alot and do not address the issues to deal and cope with depression. If you are feeling depressed and have no one to talk too there is nothing wrong with seeking professional help. You should not be ashamed that you seeing a theraptist. Just know that whatever we as people go through on an day to day basis know that their are people far worse off than you.
