2008 Year In Review
Well the year 2008 is coming to a close and 2009 is almost upon us but before we party our way into the new year i wanted to go back in time and remeber the year that was. The year started out with the Daryl Wilson Red Party back in Febrary on President's Day Weekend where i partied with Tiffany Pollard aka "New York" followed by parting in philly with Tron from www.whatsthet.com for philly black pride. That was a good weekend of fun. Memorial Weekend here in DC was very different to say the least and if you follow this blog i did talk about it, but thats the past and i hold no more ill regards to that situation but here is video of some of the events at the 930 clubhttp://andresflava.blogspot.com/2008/08/strip-off-dc-style_06.html .

A Strong Black Man 4 A Strong Black Man
A Strong Black Man yes this is true
but dont be so strong putting up walls thinking I will hurt you
trust my heart to be true
I dont pause and think before saying I love you
it's something I just do
look into my brown eyes they tell the truth
it's never my goal to offend you
sometimes I say things to get a reaction from you
and thats only because I cant read you
I'm just reaching out to touch you
dont let your heart be as cold as your hands
I know like a stone wall you're a Strong Black Man
I would never degrade you
disrespecting your manhood just aint cool
your money is not what attracted me to you
the Lago’ you drive does not make you
where you live makes me think no more or less of you
nor does the clothes you wear hell
I love you naked boo
I want what's best for you
but I dont care about
how long or which one or even if
you attended school
as long as for yourself you continue to improve
25,35,45 and beyond
every Strong Black Man I know
has at least one scrape, scratch or scar
take it for what it is chop it up as a loss
One day a another Strong Black Man's path you will cross
dont be so strong that you forget to bend
what could be more perfect than a mate like a twin
two powerful forces a Strong Black Man with his Strong Black Man
I know this Strong Black Man has alot of work of his own to do
I have to learn to bend just like you
tear down these bricks I've mounted between me and you
I know your worth and I already trust in you
Strong Black man I'm calling out to you
trust in me by trusting in yourself
work with the cards dealt
this Strong Black Man needs his Strong Black Man
come with me now let me warm your cold hands
but dont be so strong putting up walls thinking I will hurt you
trust my heart to be true
I dont pause and think before saying I love you

"Madea goes to Jail" Official Trailer
"Obssed" Movie Trailer starring Beyonce

Three Black Gay Men Killed in New Orleans, Police Hunt for Suspects
thanks to www.rodonline.typepad.com
New Orleans police have identified three black men who were gunned down in a 7th Ward home. The men were apparently gay, one possibly transgender, and police "believe the three victims knew their killers."
The victims were all from Mississippi and living together in a home on the 2500 block of Pauger Street. They are identified as Felix Pearson, 19; Kenneth Monroe, 27; and Darriel Wilson, 20. Nola.com reports the men were found Saturday afternoon after the building manager "said he saw the lower half of a man's body through a window and called 911."
Initial reports suggest the victims were black gay men and one possibly trans. A police source is quoted as saying "one" of the victim's "was wearing women's clothes." The Times Picayune also publishes a crime scene photo and the victims friends are clearly family. Local radio reports have reportedly outed the victims, says Eddie Warren, a Rod 2.0 reader in Metaire. "The victims were identified as gay on a call-in show on WYLD," he says, referring to a popular black station.
Friends of Darriel Wilson have created a memorial page on Facebook. So far there are more than 180 friends—many are from Mississippi and/or Wilson's hometown of Hattiesburg—and clearly many are other black gay men. Several Facebook friends are members of the ballroom community, too. Funeral arrangements are not complete for Wilson. No word yet on arrangements for Pearson and Monroe.
There is also no word yet on a possible motive for the triple murder but it may be too early to speculate on a hate crime theory. There were no signs of a home invasion and authorities believe "the victims and their killer or killers were associates and may have entered the home together."Regardless of the motive, there are three more deaths of black gay men to add to the crime blotter. What a way to end the year.

Food 4 Thought: Transforming the Mind,Body & Soul
There are moments when we need to begin to understand that there is a place for all of us to seek purpose and understanding. We have to focus on seeking peace. When we take the time to be still and silent, we can reconize who we are and what our purpose is. The universe doesn't have a pause button, it is constantly in motion, constantly evolving, changing, stretching and metamorphosing. There is a lesson in that for us all.
We are a culture that gorges on being acquistive, but what we seek to acquire always seems to involve material gain. Not that that's inherently bad in and of itself. But so much focus on temporal things, while allowing our most precious assets-mind,body and soul to slide into rack and ruin, is foolish. So we have to create a new dream, new goals, and a new methodology for achieving those goals.
Turn off the tv and cell phone and crack open a book. Take an excercise class. Stop eating for two. Stop spending every single penny of your paycheck. Lose the negative friends. Meditate. Make an appointment for an annual physical. Visit a local school and offer your services as a tutor. Mentor a oung person who is heading down the path of self-destruction. Pray. Visit a nursing home. Learn to Love and Respect yourself.
Oftentimes, ironically enough, while we are laboring to improve somebody else's life or circumstances, we find our own path to redemption.
We do have the power and the duty to create miracles in our own lives. But we can't wait for somebody else to do it. As Mahatma Gandhi said, " Be the change you want to see in the world."

Fox Sports apologizes 4 Lewdness
Minnesota Vikings
tight end Visanthe Shiancoe is having a breakout season, and his national exposure is now at an all-time high.
Fox Sports televised a clip of Vikings owner Zygi Wilf’s postgame locker room speech after Sunday’s victory at Detroit, and Shiancoe was inadvertently shown naked in the background. He was wearing a towel that did little to cover him. The network apologized, but screen-shot images have surfaced all over the Internet.
Shiancoe wasn’t available to the media Monday, but he joked with a gossip columnist for the Star Tribune of Minneapolis about it. "How’d it look?" he told the newspaper.
But Shiancoe’s agent, Tony Agnone, told the St. Paul Pioneer Press that his client was embarrassed and hopes fans understand it wasn’t intentional, reports The Associated Press.

This game is over by Justbthat
This post is courtesy of Jon Perry over at www.justbthat.com who did an excellent post take a view.
Inspiration comes from the strangest places. Here I am at 5 am — high and bored not so much horny, but just chatting on A4A — talking to people about their plans for the weekend.
I get a message from a guy in Detroit. “Whad up doe… do u ever cum to da detroit area?”
“Never been!”
“Ok… would you ever be interested in visiting?”
“Actually I would… why you ask?”
His response was one of the most typical I’d ever heard. It went something exactly like this:
Well I am lookin for a true friend. I moved up here about 2 and half years ago from Florida and there is nothing up here but games… So I am lookin for someone to kick it with out of the area…
You know, sometimes I amaze even me.
I told him,
Know which games are yours to participate in and which are not.No matter where we go, people will play games. We have to learn for ourself when to shout UNO, yell YAHTZEE and even cry SORRY. Then there are times when we have to raise up and say fuck this, you cheated — you broke the rules — this game is over.
That’s not just related to love relationships but in our day to day interactions with people who try to force us to play their game day in and day out.
We play the games until we tired of playing them and if we continue, we are the ones who get played and become bitter.
Know which games are yours to participate in and which are not.

DC Council extends Liquor sales til 5am/Bars open 24/7
The DC City Council on Tuesday Dec 2 voted to extend the bar closing time from 1am to 5am from January 17 -21 as the city is flooded with people to celebrate the Inauguration of President Obama.
The law, proposed by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington, was introduced by council member Jim Graham (D-Ward 1), who represents the nightlife-heavy neighborhoods of Adams Morgan and Mount Pleasant.
Graham said yesterday that he spoke with aides to Mayor Adrian M. Fenty (D) the day the measure came up for a vote and passed.
Graham said he was asked to remove nightclubs -- a category that includes clubs with nude dancing -- from the legislation out of public safety concerns. Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier shut down a nightclub and a lodge earlier this year after outbreaks of violence. The council restored nightclubs to the legislation, leading Graham to vote against his own bill.
"All of the discussions [with mayoral aides] were about public safety and their appraisal of public safety," Graham said. "I assumed that was an expression of Lanier."
Traci L. Hughes, a D.C. police spokeswoman, said more than 4,000 officers from other jurisdictions will be in the District assisting local police with the inauguration.

2009 Grammy Nods are In
Nominations for the 51st Annual GRAMMY Awards were announced tonight by The Recording Academy and reflected one of the most diverse years ever with the Album Of The Year category alone representing the rap, R&B, folk and rock genres.
Lil Wayne topped the nominations with eight, Coldplay garnered seven, and Jay-Z, Ne-Yo and Kanye West each earned six nods. Alison Krauss, John Mayer, Robert Plant, Radiohead and Jazmine Sullivan received five each, and Adele, Danger Mouse, Eagles, Lupe Fiasco, George Strait, and T.I. each received four nominations.
For the first time, nominations for the annual GRAMMY Awards were announced on prime-time television as part of "The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music's Biggest Night." The one-hour special — broadcast live on CBS from Nokia Theatre L.A Live — featured past GRAMMY winners and nominees reading nominations in several categories, as well as performing songs from the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame in celebration of the grand opening of the GRAMMY Museum.
Two-time GRAMMY winner LL Cool J and 50th GRAMMY Best New Artist nominee Taylor Swift co-hosted the telecast, and presenters/performers included four-time GRAMMY winner Christina Aguilera, five-time GRAMMY winners Mariah Carey and Celine Dion, the six-time GRAMMY-winning Foo Fighters, 14-time GRAMMY winner B.B. The 51st Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on "GRAMMY Sunday," Feb. 8, 2009, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and once again will be broadcast live in high-definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on CBS from 8–11:30 p.m

Hudson Murder Suspect To Be Charged
CHICAGO (Reuters) - The estranged brother-in-law of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson was arrested and will be charged with the October slayings of three of her relatives, police said on Monday.
"We have obtained an arrest warrant for William Balfour. He was released to Chicago detectives," Chicago Police Department spokeswoman Monique Bond said, adding that Balfour would be charged with three counts of murder.
Balfour, 27, who had been married to Hudson's sister Julia, was questioned after the slayings but not charged. He was imprisoned for violating his parole on a previous attempted murder conviction, and was scheduled to have a hearing on Wednesday.
Bond would not give details about what evidence led police to charge Balfour for the shooting deaths of Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, 57, brother, Jason Hudson, 29, and 7-year-old nephew, Julian King.
Donerson and Jason Hudson were found shot to death on October 24 in Donerson's South Side home. Four days later, King's body was found in a stolen sport utility vehicle parked on the city's West Side. A handgun used in the slayings was found nearby.
The Chicago Tribune reported investigators had evidence that Balfour had a gun matching the weapon. {Source}

The Return
Its been 11 days but it does seem like an a long suffering pain as i was on a short but needed hiatus. I was able to think and get some things in life on track but more importantly get me on track which at the end of the day counts. I did alot of soul searching and deleted alot of people out of my life in the process and i became closer to a few very good ones who i already knew had my back and was dumb to see it. So much news worthy stuff as happen in the 11 days and i will try and play catch up so i hope everyone had a good thanksgiving holiday weekend. Now its time to get back to business. I have a few BIG projects down the pipeline that will be revealed soon. So until then be good and here to my return to the blog world. Thanks to those that reached out to me in my absence it truly meant alot.
