FAMED Author E.Lynn Harris DEAD at 54
just finding out that E. Lynn Harris Famed author passed yesterday. Truly a sad weekend in the literary world. He will be greatly missed! I first met E.Lynn Harris back in 2006 at Sizzle Miami where he was promoting his lastest book. and in 2009 he returned to Sizzle Miami to promote yet again his latest book Basketball Jones. The man was an amazing author and below is one of his last interviews with 3LWTV's Lonnell Williams of www.lonnellwilliams.blogspot.com
AndresFlava mourns the loss of the great E. Lynn Harris, who passed away today in Los Angeles at the young age of 54. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
E. Lynn Harris took us all by storm in the early 1990's with his first novel "Invisible Life". For many of us, it was our first time reading a book that told the complex story about the lives of black gay men and the difficult choices many of us had to make in dealing with our sexuality and relationships. He forever changed the direction of literary context as we know it today. It is because of individuals like E. Lynn Harris that we have the number of African American LGBT Authors and Publishers that we have today. We all owe him a debt of gratitude for opening the door and paving the way for our gay brothers and sisters to write openly about our lives and experiences as so many that have come behind him have done.
We are once again reminded of how quickly things change around us and the importance of embracing each moment life has to offer as none of us knows how long we have in this world.
Let's take time out of our busy schedules to share with each other more love, concern and support.
Our condolences go out to E. Lynn's family and friends. May he rest in peace.
