Gospel Singer Tonex comes "OUT"

Anthony Charles Williams II better known by his stage name TONEX has finally come out after years of rumors that he indeed was gay! But before you get into the confession of Tonex lets get into the background surround Tonex.

Stellar Award winner and Grammy nominated gospel recording artist Tonex has dealt with rumors regarding his sexuality for almost his entire career. The son of the late Rev. Dr. Anthony Williams and a minister himself, the accusations of homosexuality have been an enormous threat to his livelihood, ministry, and future as a respected leader in the black faith community in his native San Diego, California.

In 2007 with the release of The Naked Truth and the infamous YouTube video (that has since been pulled) where Tonex's use of profanity and secular posturing shocked gospel music fans; it seemed inside this talented singer was a ticking time bomb ready to explode. In that video Tonex emphatically denied being gay, but that was two years ago.

2009 MTV VMAs

Well if you were watching the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards last night then you are aware of the madness that took place last night at Radio City Music Hall. I kept telling folks that the 09 awards would be a historic night and indeed it was!

To Madonna opening of the show with a very heartfelt tribute to the king of pop Michael Jackson to Janet Jackson electricfying and emotional performance of "Scream" to Kanye West well words cant describe what he did as he distrupted the show when Taylor Shift won for Best Female Video. Kanye stormed the stage and said "Yo, Taylor, I'm really happy for you, and I'm going to let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time," he shouted. "One of the best videos of all time!" But the show ended with class At the end of the show, Beyonce let Swift have her moment when Beyonce won Video of the Year. She got on stage and asked Swift to join her. "I remember being 17-years old, up for my first MTV award for Destiny's Child and it was one of the most exciting moments of my life," she began. "So I would like for Taylor to come out and have her moment."Swift walked on stage and smiled as the crowd cheered."Maybe we could try this again?" Swift said, before thanking her brother and fans.

Janet RETURNS to MTV with MJ Tribute THIS SUN!

According to www.Xemvanadams.com

It has NOW been reported that JANET JACKSON WILL TAKE THE STAGE at This Sunday’s 2009 MTV Video Music Awards!

Janet will perform an entire Song & Dance medly, dedicated to the life & times of her Brother, Pop Icon; Michael Jackson. Janet has been working alongside the likes of Major, Industry Choreographers who include Frank Gatson, Travis Payne & Wade Robson. Frank is best known for his collaborations alongside Beyonce & Usher, as Travis Payne is the man responsible for piecing together much of the dance routines that would have created Michael’s THIS IS IT tour. The entire dedication will consist of Janet, backed by a slew of 20 other dancers. Rehearsals have been vigorous, lasting between 10-15 hours per day.

THIS is the performance that’s going to resurrect Janet’s Career. Janet has NOT been allowed to perform on MTV since the 2004 Superbowl Fiasco, which in essence has hurt her appeal, sales and public notoriety. Janet is now being looked upon to carry the Jackson Legacy. I truly believe, in my heart, that this next album from Janet, will solidify her ICON status. Her best music stems from sadness and depression, i.e. 1997’s VELVET ROPE album. As Janet has FINALLY returned to strictly working alongside her Majestic Team of Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Im xpecting a MAJOR come-back of sorts. EVERYONE is going to be interested in listening to the lyrics of her music, ESPECIALLY since she is also rumored to have split with long time boyfriend and music collaborater, Jermaine Dupree.

The Atlanta Police Department said people with guns were fighting in Piedmont Park at about 9 p.m. today causing hundreds of people to "stampede."

There were no initial reports of injuries and police said the scene was deemed safe after the crowd was dispersed. The park closes at 11 p.m. and most people were leaving the park at about 9:30 p.m.

Several arrests were made and two people was possibly maced, said APD LGBT liaison Officer Dani Lee Harris.

"The APD got a call about an unruly crowd at the park and responded to the scene. There were two Code 20s [use of mace] and several arrests were made, but it's not known yet how many," Harris said at about 10:15 p.m. "The crowd is dispersed and the scene is secure." She added there were no reports of any injuries.

Hundreds of people were gathered in the park today as part of an unofficial gathering of Black Gay Pride, with DJs playing music and numerous cookouts taking place. Sundays in the park is part of a long standing tradition at Black Gay Pride.

Ryan Lee, editor of David Atlanta magazine and senior reporter at Southern Voice, who was at the park tonight when the incident took place, said he heard no gunfire and police told him a fight broke out among a group of people who had guns. He said at about 9:30 p.m. the APD was attempting to clear out the park.

"There were people fighting with guns and that caused people to stampede," an APD officer told Lee at about 9:30 p.m. at the scene.

Earlier today, the park was filled with people dancing to music and picnicking as well as walking throughout the park.

"I like this crowd — I like coming to Pride because you can meet a lot of people from all around and you are able to be yourself," said Tee, 34, of Detroit, Mich., who was attending her first Black Gay Pride.

"I've been hearing about this party in the park for years. I've always heard this is the spot to be during Pride," she said.

Ravens Linebacker Speaks Out for Marriage Equality

Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo is for marriage equality!

It’s hard to find allies in the sporting world who will publicly speak out for the LGBT community. It’s not to say there aren’t plenty of straight allies who have LGBT friends and family members. However, outside pressures (from agents, sponsors, teammates, etc.) often keep support limited or muted. But there are always individuals impervious to outside pressures.

The Baltimore Sun highlighted Ayanbadejo’s desire to do good for others. In college he co-founded an organization to help elementary school children. He protested against the UCLA administration for the declining number of African-Americans accepted for enrollment who weren’t athletes. And in April he wrote an op-ed for the Huffington Post regarding marriage equality:

“If Britney Spears can party it up in Vegas with one of her boys and go get married on a whim and annul her marriage the next day, why can’t a loving same sex couple tie the knot? How could our society grant more rights to a heterosexual one night stand wedding in Vegas than a gay couple that has been together for 3, 5, 10 years of true love?”
In closing he wrote:

“I think we will look back in 10, 20, 30 years and be amazed that gays and lesbians did not have the same rights as every one else. How did this ever happen in the land of the free and the home of the brave? Are we really free?”

Here’s to Ayanbadejo and others like him (Charles Barkley, Steve Young, etc) who are speaking out in support of the LGBT community. Let’s hope others in the locker room take his cue and follow suit.

Whitney Houston @ Good Morning America Taping

Here is video of Ms. Whitney Houston doin her thing at the taping of the Good Morning America Kickoff to their Fall series which you can see in its entirety tomorrow Wednesday Sept 2, at 7am.

After singing to the crowd gathered at Rumsey Playfied in Central Park, the songstress thanked her fans and told them ‘God Bless You’ repeatedly. Miss Whitney went on to say, ’You make me feel so good.’

Houston also apologized for occasional evidence of the wear and tear her voice has taken throughout the years, blaming her interview with Oprah for at least some of the squeaks. Whitney has already prerecorded her Interview and Oprah performances that are set to air on September 14th. Whitney also went on to explain, ‘When I’m talking, I should be singing.’ She admits that her chat with Oprah was ‘So Good.’

Whitney’s first selection was the Alicia Keys penned MILLION DOLLAR BILL followed by MY LOVE IS YOUR LOVE, I LOOK TO YOU and finally IM EVERY WOMAN. Unfortunately, in due part to her LOSS of VOICE, Whitney was unable to complete what was to be an 8 Track Set.

Regardless of the case Ms. Houston is Back and she is here to stay!
