ATL Book Launch: When Love Takes Over: A Celebration of SGL Couples of Color

Press Release:
Atlanta writer Darian Aaron reads from new book ‘When Love Takes Over’ at Outwrite August 30
Atlanta (August 9, 2011) – Award-winning Atlanta writer DARIAN AARON visits Outwrite on TUESDAY, AUGUST 30, at 7:30 p.m., to talk about and read from his new book, WHEN LOVE TAKES OVER: A Celebration of SGL Couples of Color (iUniverse Publishing). The author will sign copies following the program. Outwrite Bookstore & Coffeehouse is located at 991 PIEDMONT AVE., at the corner of Tenth St. in Midtown Atlanta, 404-607-0082. This event is free and open to the public.
WHEN LOVE TAKES OVER exclusively profiles eighteen African-American gay couples who are in committed long term relationships. The couples detail how they met, their journey towards self acceptance, liberation, and ultimately how they fell in love and maintain their relationships all the while defying the myth that two black men are incapable of loving each other for a lifetime.

The large-format coffee table book is based on the “Coupled Up” series from Aaron’s award-winning blog, Living Out Loud with Darian. “I was frustrated with the lack of representation of African-American gay couples in the LGBT and mainstream press,” the author explained to Project Q, “so instead of just complaining about our invisibility I decided to provide a platform on my blog for these couples who are maintaining healthy long-term relationships. The series was a huge success so I decided to compile it into book form.”
DARIAN AARON’s work has appeared in numerous publications including CLIK Magazine, The Advocate, The LA Times, The Daily Voice, and The Georgia Voice. He has also appeared on local and national television outlets such as FOX News, CNN, and Atlanta’s Pride & Politics. Aaron is currently pursuing a degree in broadcast journalism at Georgia Perimeter College and resides in Atlanta with his partner Joseph.
