Writing Challenge: My Suicidial Letter

As a challenge as part of a writing group am in i was told to write my suicidal letter so here goes. Just prefacing so not to scare folks.... I am alive and well and have never thought of killing my self but i had to go to a very far and deep place and when i did this is what came up, To the people that i hold dear to my heart i thank you for letting me be apart of your life. Life has been an roller coaster that I can no longer live anymore. I wake up daily trying to keep a smile on my face but on the inside I dead and have been dead for years now but every day i muster up the strength to open my eyes and continue the work of the people because I have too continue making a difference in society and be something that sometimes is hard to be and smile. I can not take the pain and hurt anymore. So this is my farewell song its been fun while it latest. Dont be sad for me I did my work and I am happy for the time being on this earth all i ask is that you all do the work of the people and continue to smile everyday.

150 years ago today We Were Freed Emancipation Proclamation January 1, 1863

The Emancipation Proclamation is 150 Years Old Today and on this day

Issued by Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863, the Emancipation Proclamation declared "all persons held as slaves within any State or designated part of a State, the people whereof shall then be in rebellion against the United States, shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free." Although the Emancipation Proclamation did not end slavery, it did change the basic character of the Civil War. Instead of waging a war to restore the old Union as it was before 1861, the North was now fighting to create a new Union without slavery. The proclamation also authorized the recruitment of African Americans as Union soldiers. By the end of the Civil War, approximately 180,000 African Americans had served in the Union army and 18,000 in the navy.

Based on James Earl Hardy's best-selling novel about a journalist and bike messenger who fall in love, the play will make its debut during the 2013 Downtown Urban Theater Festival in New York City. The performance is scheduled for March 16 at 7:30 pm at the Here Arts Center in SoHo.

Auditions will be held at the Roy Arias Studios, 300 W43rd Street @ 8th Avenue, in Studio #401A on Sunday, January 13 from 5 pm - 9:30 pm.

Please send your pic/digital portfolio, bio/resume, acting reel/vid clips to PooquieandLilBit@aol.com. Also, indicate which character you'll be reading for, and which half hour block (5-5:30 pm, 6:30-7 pm, etc) you will be able to attend. You will receive a confirmation as to when your audition is scheduled. You may prepare a two minute monologue or choose to read from one of the sides provided by the production team.

Actors chosen will be required to attend one table reading, one dry rehearsal, one tech rehearsal, and one dress rehearsal. Actors will receive a small stipend (ranging from $35-$75) immediately following the performance.
