DTLA is a self-financed, gay scripted drama series, best described as a cross between "Queer As Folk" and "Swingers." Six 30 minute episodes have been produced, and we are seeking funds to complete post-production and a few pick-ups on the series in order to deliver it to OutTV for an April 2012 premiere.

DTLA depicts the relationships of seven friends with varied ethnic, cultural, and sexual orientations who work and live in the vibrant community of Downtown Los Angeles. It's a story of love, friendship, loyalty, and being true to oneself - no matter what the cost. It is the first dramatic series with gay leads since "Queer as Folk," "Noah's Arc," and "The L Word."

Our eyes into this world are Lenny (Darryl Stephens of "Noah's Arc") and Bryan (newcomer Matthew Stephen Herrick), a long term couple who can no longer escape some fundamental truths about their relationship. As they begin to deal with end of their relationship - their lives, and the lives of their friends will be forever altered.

The series also stars Danny Roberts of "MTV's Real World," Erin Daniels of "The L Word," Tiffany Pollard of "VH1's I Love New York," Luenell of "Borat," Julie Goldman of "Big Gay Sketch," William McNamara of "Doing Time On Maple Drive," and Leslie Jordan of "Will & Grace."

Michael Joseph Jackson who we lost 2 years and 4 months ago on June 25, 2009 was finally able to rest peacefully after the verdict came down yesterday at 1:15pm California time that the Jury found Dr. Conrad Murray Guilty of Involuntary Manslaughter in the Death of Michael Jackson. sadly the punishment for the guilty verdict will only be up too 4 years,but at least justice has prevailed.

So here your official 2011 guide to relationships: "A Quick "HOW TO" Guide To Relationships"

1. Date: dating is healthy, go ahead and shop around.

2. Choose: After browsing around, if you've found a decent fit. slowly merge away from other prospects and put your main focus on that particular individual that catches your eye.

3. Be Real: you've decided to give this person a large portion of your time and attention. Don't waste time trying to give off an image that isn't who you really are.

4. Integrate: Now that you've kept it real. it's time to merge your social lives. Begin having dinner with each other's friends/family, maybe even co-workers. Know what you're really getting into before you start to claim this person. Because when you're in a relationship with ANYBODY. You're in it with them, their family, close friends, coworkers, even enemies and past lovers. It takes more then just the 2 of you to make it work. A great support system creates a sturdy foundation.

5. Make it official: you've been "talking" to this person for sometime now. they've been introduced to your closest friends and family. You've been introduced to theirs, and it's obvious that the two of you have positive intentions in mind. So why not put a title on your "situation"

6. Nesting: It's time to move in a new place together!! You've been attached at the hip for a minimum of 1 year, maximum of 2. experiencing each other in each month and season. you've spent the night over each other's apartments regularly. You know each other's spending habits, and some of each others quarks. You both realize that the two of you live at BOTH places. Tonight it's your place. 2morrow night it's theirs. Now i mentioned earlier a MAX of 2 years. I say this because you dont want to wait too long before moving in together. This is TRULY the only way you REALLY REALLY REALLY get to know a person. you don't want to spend 5+ years thinking you know someone to move in and realize you never knew them.

7. True commitment: now i'm not going to tell you when to get married. i think after living with someone for sometime. experiencing life fully merged. it'll just happen naturally.

(some people may disagree with me on some of this. but i just want to say that i dont understand how people get married who have never lived with each other for a period of time FIRST! to me that's crazy because you really never KNOW a person until you live with them)

As for the road bumps along the way...TALK! don't disguise problems. It's unhealthy NOT to argue, because problems are secretly tucked away, and simply grow larger. It's also not healthy to argue ALL THE DAMN TIME! because that means your asses aren't solving your problems! The key is to "fight fair" when arguing. Find a solution to your problems....compromise!!!!!!

8 years ago today is when my world collided and was changed forever. Today was the day I found out I was HIV positive and the day life changed and I now knew it would never be the same again. I have always said that me being diagnosised with HIV was not an death sentence or that I was upset or bitter at the person who infected me, but in fact that being diagnosised with the diease was as crazy as it sounds was indeed an blessing on to me. Prior to me being infected with HIV I had been working with HIV/AIDS women and youth infected and affected with HIV as a youth counselor so I knew I would be ok. I usually take today to reflect and mediate on my life and keep it moving. I am healthy and fine since finding out I was HIV positive 8 years ago today unlike most folks who have been hospitalized and get sick easily. Wow…well my coming out story is a story of a boy who grew up in the church and took in a lot of the church activities as a youth. As I began to get into finding out who I was and where my life would take me, I came to the realization that indeed I was attracted to the same sex. At first, it was a scary thing that I couldn’t come to grips with. I honestly believe that rejection from girls that I were attracted to, played a crucial factor in this part as well.

I was raised in a Jamaican household were gays were looked down upon and ridiculed

Despite my family’s Jamaican roots, I felt that my decision to come out to them would be fine based on their love and dedication. I was wrong! My grandmother told me i was going to hell and that it was an abomination and started quoting bible scriptures to me. Deep down, I knew it hurt her that her eldest grandchild would not bare her any great grandkids and because of that she lashed out at me.

My aunt would wake me up early every morning for about a month yelling and screaming “FAGGOT” and that she hated me. Although the words of my family have hurt me it has also made me the stronger person I am today.

My mother, even-though she does not approve, has come to grips with my sexuality. I have been estranged from my family for the last 10 years. Recently, the death of my father last month brought me and my mother back a little closer. We have never been a unified family but I have reached out more and hope that eventually time will heal all wounds.

I know a lot of you have asked when is THE SKINNY coming out. The short answer: I'm not sure...yet. As u know, films cost money. I was able to scrape together the money to shoot it- from my own shallow pockets & a handful of investors...But the harsh reality is- I do not have the money to finish the film- post-production, music, sound mixing, etc. So more money-raising must be done. Unfortunately, money-raising is the part of this process that I hate the most. I'm bad at it and I hate doing it, always have, always will. But I'm figuring it out. Just takes time.
Meanwhile, I'm editing the film myself (no money to hire editors & I know I'll work for free lol). And I'm writing music for the film's soundtrack with the help of some talented musician friends who've donated their time & talents. So the train's forward momentum has not been lost. It's just slow-going until I get the money I need. I have personally sacrificed to get this film in the can- but I have no problem suffering and sacrificing for my art in the hope & belief that it will pay off in the end. But the money is not the main reason I'm in this business. I do what I do because I believe in the importance of telling our stories. These are the stories I want to see. And I decided a long time ago, if no one else is telling our stories, then I'll tell them myself.

Just getting in from Adrain Alicea Fashion Show here in NYC as part of the Mercedes Benz NY Fashion Week as Adrain closed out fashion week with a BANG!! I will say having to wait an hour and a half for the show to begin was well worth the wait because Mr. Alicea did not disappoint at all. I coming from a non-fashion background knows nothing about fashion, was able to attend 5 fashion shows thru out NY Fashion Week and this showcase was by far the best of the shows that I attended. So kudos to Adrian Alicea of Nico & Adrain for an absolute fantastic showcase. Opening the show was legendary great Melba Moore who tore the house down and was recieved with an 2 minute standing ovation once she had finished performing.

As the 10 year Anniversary of what is by far the most horrific day in the lives of alot of people across the country, we here at Andresflava takes a look back on the day as I was living in South Florida at the time I was waken by my grandmother after the first attack and watched in horror as with the rest of the country when the second plane hit the second tower live on Good Morning America. I couldnt help but feel sad and heartbroken as to what I was witnessesing at the moment. I immediately started calling friends in DC and NYC and to no luck no answer for several hours but after a day or so I was able to get ahold of all my friends. I wasnt personally affected by the events that took place 10 years ago, but as an american citizen and a human being you have no choice but to feel for the lives lost.

As the day went on I went on a date actually later that day and found my first love which was an great expierence but I was unable to really enjoy the moment cause we were at the movie theaters and as the movie was about to start we were told that we had to leave due to the theater closing at the request of President Bush who had requested that alot of attractions and businesses be shut down due to the terror attacks on the nation.

For the first time since settling sexual coercion lawsuits against Bishop Eddie Long in May, two of the young men who accused him of sexual abuse are speaking out.

Twenty-four-year-old Jamal Parris and 23-year-old Spencer LeGrande were among the four cases initially filed against the disgraced anti-gay mega-church pastor last fall. The four young men—Maurice Robinson, Jamal Parris, Anthony Flagg and Spencer LeGrande—filed sexual coercion lawsuits against Long and New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.

Long is accused of using church funds to give the young men cash, gifts and cars. The sexual relationships reportedly began when each of the plaintiffs were around 16 years old. Parris and LeGrande say Long made them feel "indebted" to him and "used scripture to rationalize the intimacy."

The large-format coffee table book is based on the “Coupled Up” series from Aaron’s award-winning blog, Living Out Loud with Darian. “I was frustrated with the lack of representation of African-American gay couples in the LGBT and mainstream press,” the author explained to Project Q, “so instead of just complaining about our invisibility I decided to provide a platform on my blog for these couples who are maintaining healthy long-term relationships. About this project

RASHAWN’S DESIRE: The Untold Story Of Rashawn Brazell is a documentary that closely examines the story behind the 2005 murder of 19 year-old Rashawn Brazell of New York City, whose dismembered body parts were found on a trackbed in a subway station in what one magazine referred to as the “most horrific murder since Jack the Ripper.” Through in-depth examination of the sensational media coverage of the case and interviews with those who knew Rashawn best, the film tells the story of who Rashawn Brazell truly was, what likely led to the crime, the stalled investigation and one determined mother’s continuing quest to find justice for her son.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS FILM:
It has been six years since Rashawn Brazell was murdered. After a brief onslaught of sensationalistic coverage, the case remains unsolved and media attention has waned. The purpose of this film is not only to reinvigorate the interest in the case, but to correct certain factual inaccuracies that have been perpetuated via the media coverage that happened after Rashawn was killed. This will be the deepest, most accurate and thorough telling of the Rashawn Brazell story that has been seen to date.

GENESIS OF THE PROJECT
This project began when Desire Brazell met filmmaker Terik King in the fall of 2009 for a one-hour radio interview on WNSR, the radio station of The New School in New York City.
According to Terik, “I had been curious about the case for almost five years at that point, and the radio show afforded me an opportunity to probe a bit beyond what little had been reported in the mainstream media and even on the blogs that rallied around Rashawn’s cause. I had seen the image of Rashawn in his graduation tux so many times, I wondered, ‘Who WAS this kid, really? Certainly he didn’t walk around in a tux every day. Is it possible he did something to somehow brought this upon himself?’ It was supposed to be a single show, a single hour. But after the interview, when Desire left the studio, there was an energy there that had never been there before. The crew was in stunned silence – my archival videographer said, ‘That’s the best one you’ve ever done.’ For my part, I felt like I had just scratched the surface, and couldn’t help but feel that there was much more to learn about Rashawn, the case…everything. I also realized that I had misjudged him to a degree, and that that was driven by the tenor of the press portrayal of him. It wasn’t until after the radio show had aired that I looked at the archival footage and realized there was a film there.
“So I asked Desire if she’d be interested in doing a documentary and, knowing her general disdain for the media treatment of their story up to that point, I honestly expected her to refuse. To my surprise, she said ‘yes.’ And I’ve been off and running ever since. It has been a journey that has taken me to places I never thought I’d go, it has made me confront my own biases and issues…and I’ve come to know Rashawn and his family in a way that I never dreamed I would. Now it’s important to me that the film allow the audience to come to know Desire, the family, and Rashawn as I have. I consider it a sacred obligation.”

WHERE WE ARE SO FAR
The film is approximately 75% shot and editing is already underway, with Terik King pursuing final interviews and adding new visual components on a daily basis. There are still a handful of interviews to be added and several reenactments to be shot of actual events as recounted by interviewees in the film. A portion of the completion funds will go toward the financing of these reenactments in addition to postproduction expenses.

WHAT THE FUNDS WILL ACCOMPISH:
Our goal, when reached, will allow the film to receive top-flight post production attention in time to be submitted to PBS for inclusion in the upcoming season of the critically-acclaimed documentary series, Independent Lens.

The funds will be used to cover remaining expenses including:
Editors’ salary
Intellectual property licensing
Color correction/color grading
Sound mix and scoring
Legal clearances
Reenactment shoot costs

Earlier this month, inspired by New York state's recent legalization of gay marriage, an online petition argued the case that the popular Muppet characters wed one another.

But Sesame Workshop nixed that idea in a statement posted on the official Sesame Street Facebook page on Thursday:
